Over-exfoliation from harsh, chemical scrubs can actually cause the dry, peeling skin you’re trying to combat.
Regular exfoliation is essential in increasing cell turnover and revealing smoother skin. However, most of us are exfoliating way too much and with products far too harsh. Excessive exfoliation can strip the skin of its natural oils, leading to dryness, flakiness and irritation, as well as make the skin more sensitive and prone to irritation leading to inflammation and discomfort. It can also exacerbate existing symptoms for those of use with skin conditions such as eczema or psoriasis.
How to avoid over-exfoliation:
1. Use a gentle exfoliator
The Everywhere Exfoliator is powered by 3% AHA formula composed of five fruit acids (including 1% lactic acid, glycolic and malic acids) to gently increase the rate of cell turnover, without irritating the skin barrier. The upcycled rice beads work to gently buff away dry skin, the Vitamin E offers deep hydration and Aloe soothes itchiness and irritation.
2. Follow a consistent schedule
Based on your skin type and sensitivity. Over-exfoliating can often occur when we don’t have a routine and end up exfoliating too often. Aim for two or three times per week and monitor how your skin responds.
3. Nourish the skin post-exfoliating
Using hydrating moisturiser and nourishing oils to support the natural skin barrier and prevent over-drying. The Everywhere Lotion is powered by by our [THERMA-BIOME+™] complex of Prebiotics, Vitamins C,E & F and Thermal Water to help restore a healthy skin barrier, Niacinamide to reduce redness, and Bakuchiol to soothe irritated skin.
